US Fish and Wildlife Services for Rio Vista Fish Technology Center
CWE performed a groundwater study for the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) proposed Fish Technology Center in Rio Vista, California, to assess the feasibility of available groundwater for a fish hatchery. The study involved drilling into a non-potable water well, testing water quality, and developing treatment methods for the fish hatchery and discharge requirements. Tasks include the installation of a 640-foot well, including permitting (permit review, site plans, writing, application, and compliance) and obtaining environmental permits, field investigations for collecting and analyzing groundwater for constituents of concern to determine groundwater compliance with applicable permits, developing health and safety plans (HASPs), and evaluating and proposing alternatives for well water treatment. Project work required interfacing with local regulatory agencies such as County Health Department, and City of Rio Vista.
CWE’s field activities included a utility investigation, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) tests, geotechnical analysis, and water quality testing. A local vendor was used to perform the well drilling, and permits from the County and City were applied for and approved for all site work.
